Historic Political Victories
In 2010 Nathan was hired by Sen. Phil Berger and NC Republican Senate Caucus Director Jim Blaine. After winning all 11 target races in 2010, Republicans secured their first Senate majority in 140 years.
Following the historic victories in 2010, Nathan was promoted to NC Republican Senate Political Director.
Since launching Atlas Political Consulting in 2020, Nathan has advised successful candidates in the most expensive state legislative races in North Carolina history, helped the GOP hold the NC Senate majority in 2020, recapture the supermajority in 2022, and hold it in 2024.
Landmark Policy Successes
In 2012 Nathan joined the North Carolina Chamber to launch its independent expenditure operation.
At the North Carolina Chamber Nathan was instrumental in securing landmark conservative victories, such as tax reform and transportation funding reform. In 2016 Nathan joined Parker Poe law firm’s lobbying arm and was named one of North Carolina’s Most Influential Lobbyists by North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research.
During the 2021-22 and 2023-24 legislative sessions Nathan served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger. Beginning in 2025, Nathan has served as the Senior Policy and Strategy Advisor to Senate Rules Chairman Bill Rabon.
Nathan’s key role at the legislature helped Senate Republicans pass consequential legislation, including healthcare reform with Medicaid expansion, the only comprehensive pro-life bill enacted over the objections of a Democratic governor after Dobbs, and new North Carolina redistricting plans in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
